Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Tuesday, February 17th, 6:00pm in the undercroft.

Shrove Tuesday is celebrated in the Episcopal Church as the last day before Lent, which is a period of fasting, reflection, and alms-giving leading up to Easter. The name “Shrove” comes from the old English word “shrive”, which means to confess sins. Traditionally, Christians would attend church to confess their sins and seek absolution, preparing their hearts for the solemn season of Lent.

Shrove Tuesday serves as a meaningful transition from the indulgence of feasting to the reflective and penitential season of Lent. Whether through the enjoyment of pancakes, participation in community festivities, or engaging in spiritual practices, it is a day rich in tradition and significant for many Christians around the world.
